Murder conspiracy case; Govt in high court says Dileep destroyed evidence Kerala | Deshabhimani

Kochi: The government in the high court has said that actor Dileep has destroyed evidence in the case of the attempted murder of the investigating officers in the incident where the actress was attacked. Despite the High Court order not to destroy the evidence, Dileep destroyed it. The Crime Branch said in a statement that the case against Dileep was fabricated and should be dismissed.

The court ordered the phones to be produced on January 29. The data were destroyed on the 29th and 30th. Director General of Prosecution TA Shaji told the court that a forensic examination had found that most of the phone records related to the murder conspiracy case had been destroyed by the accused. The crime branch said that the four phones required to be produced by the court were examined in a lab in Mumbai and found to be counterfeit.

The DGP said that Dileep had hidden a phone and did not mention during interrogation about the phone which was sent to Mumbai for inspection. The DGP also said that Raman Pillai Associates had records of a WhatsApp call from an iPhone to a major hotel in the city on January 30.

The court asked why Balachandra Kumar had not disclosed earlier despite having all the evidence in hand. The prosecution pointed out that these matters were not relevant at this stage and that the court should look into whether a crime was being uncovered.
Meanwhile, Dileep reiterated that the police have registered a new case to gather evidence in the case of the attack on the actress. The petition was adjourned to pronounce judgment by Justice Siyad Rahman.
