Malappuram: The Muslim League has issued a warning to PK Basheer MLA, who had racially abused CPM leader and former minister MM Mani MLA. State President Panakkad Sadiqali Shihab Thangal clarified that racism is not the way of the league.

Personal abuse is not the policy of the League. Leaders must be careful when making references. Sadiqali said he would give instructions to leaders and activists on the issue.

PK Basheer insulted MM Mani in the name of color while addressing the Muslim League Wayanad district workers meeting. PK Basheer, the MLA from Ernadu constituency, has come under fire on social media for his racist remarks.

“He (Pinarayi) is scared when he sees black, he is scared when he sees the veil, now my fear is what will happen if MM Mani goes to their state committee … because his eyes and mouth are not black …” Basheer said.

P.K. MM said people were responding to Bashir’s controversial remarks and would ask about the remarks in person. Mani had responded.

In response to PK Basheer’s racist remarks against MM Mani, Minister V. Shivankutty was on the scene. ‘Not black or white; Maniyasan is red … ‘Shivankutty wrote on Facebook.
