There have been cases of killing and burning foreigners for blasphemy in Pakistan.
According to ABC News on the 3rd local time, Pakistani police said Muslims broke into a sporting goods factory in eastern Pakistan’s Punjab province, killing and setting fire to a Sri Lankan man.
Police said workers at the factory had sued the Sri Lankan man for damaging a poster bearing Muhammad’s name.
According to a video posted on social media, Muslims drag victims into the street and set themselves on fire. It has not been confirmed whether the victim is dead.
ABC News reported that Muslims had set the victim’s body on fire, while Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan tweeted that it was “a horrific event that burned a Sri Lankan alive.”
Some Muslims took selfies in front of the burning victims’ bodies and shouted “blasphemy”.
The police said, “We will find out the exact cause of the believers attacking the victim, and we will investigate thoroughly.”
The commander-in-chief of the Pakistani Army said in a statement that “the brutal killings by mobs are a very shameful and shameful thing to do.”
