New Delhi: Swami Prasad Maurya, who resigned from the Yogi Adityanath cabinet in Uttar Pradesh, has said that his resignation has caused an earthquake in the BJP. He said the next move would be announced on Friday and more ministers and MLAs would leave the BJP with him.

Maurya said he had only resigned as a minister and had not left the BJP or joined the Samajwadi Party. But he soon made it clear that he had rejected the BJP and did not intend to return to the party. He does not intend to join the Samajwadi Party for the time being. My resignation has shaken the BJP. Maurya said that Akhilesh Yadav had congratulated him.

Following the resignation of Swami Prasad Maurya, there are indications that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has intervened in the matter. It is learned that Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has been tasked to bring back Swami Prasad Maurya. Maurya had complained to the national leadership about his differences with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He was unhappy that no further action was taken. Following his resignation, the Deputy Chief Minister requested that he return. He said he did not know why he had resigned and that any issue could be discussed and resolved. The resignation of Maurya, a leader with significant influence among the backward classes, has dealt a heavy blow to the BJP in the upcoming UP elections. Maurya’s daughter Sanghamitra is a BJP Lok Sabha member. The resignation comes amid growing dissatisfaction with the government’s treatment of Dalits, backward classes, farmers, unemployed youth and small business owners. But in a letter to Governor Anandiben Patel, Maurya said his resignation was in the name of dissent and ideology.

Maurya, who was once Mayawati’s loyalist, joined the BJP just before the 2017 assembly elections. Earlier, when Akhilesh was the Chief Minister, he was the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. Has been MLA 5 times. Following the news of Maurya’s resignation, MLAs Roshan Lal Verma, Brijesh Prajapati, Bhagwati Sagar and Vinay Shakya also announced their resignations.
