Xinhua news agency reported that Myanmar opened a general election booth this morning. More than 37 million voters across the country came out to vote.

According to the Myanmar Election Commission, 5,639 candidates, including 87 representatives from various political parties and 260 independent candidates, hope to sit in the 1,117 parliament.
However, in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak this year, up to 3 million people voted in advance (as of Nov.3). 75,000 people participated in the ballot.
Myanmar will start counting the votes immediately after the box is closed at 4 PM.
