Investigation of 463 real estate tax evaders including 3rd new town is completed, 110 billion won will be collected

[천지일보=김현진 기자] The government has decided to launch an additional tax investigation on 446 people, including those who are suspected of having received money for acquisition by means of an expedient gift, among young people who lack the means to finance the purchase of a house.

Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister of Economy and Minister of Strategy and Finance, presided over a meeting of related ministers to inspect the real estate market at the government complex in Seoul on the 29th and explained that this measure was taken as the proportion of young people in their 20s and younger who acquired housing increased significantly.

In the future, the National Tax Service plans to separately brief the detailed investigation plan on expedient donations.

Recently, the proportion of housing purchases in Seoul for people in their 20s or younger stood at 6.1% in the first quarter of this year, up 1.7 percentage points from the same period last year (4.4%).

Deputy Prime Minister Hong said, “Through a special investigation on real estate tax evasion in development areas such as the 3rd new town, a total of 828 people were investigated for fraudulent donations and planned real estate. He said, “We are conducting detailed verification of the remaining 365 people.”

“We will respond as strictly as possible to acts that impede normal market operation, such as real estate tax evasion or expedient donations, based on the operation of a regular reporting center and strengthening on-site crackdowns,” he said.
