Last year, Chris Lilley was shown a new comedy series in the works by Netflix; now, the trailer and date of performance by the streaming network. When clarification is reached, the representative of Netflix sent a tweet from producer Lilley, Laura Waters, addressing the criticism. “Some confusion – in the new show Catering, Chris Lilley is not showing a color woman, ”she said. “When the series is released you will see Jana as a white woman with a curly style of 70s.”
“I am more interested in the character in the story and I know that most fans ignore the negatives that are written,” Lilley told Splitsider back in 2012 in response to criticism of the element. “My whole thing is that I make multiple characters and surprise people with these different types of characters, so why is it offensive to do anything other than a white Australian? It is very limiting. ”
