The plan relates to the city of Orlando which sells part of the land from Orange Center Boulevard to Hannibal Square Community Land Trust.
The city leaders say that the plan would provide affordable housing for residents who would have their own home, but the land trust would be the owner of its land.
Some residents do not believe that housing will be affordable for everyone.
“So again, we have a secret,” said Stella M. Lewis, owner of the house. “They want to build up the community so it appeals to the middle class, and get rid of those on low incomes.” T
“Our interest is in making this path into a high quality housing corridor that anyone would be proud of,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.
The city acquired the land, located far from Camping World Stadium, and demolished apartments to clear the way for the new housing units.
