Dubai : New law comes into force in the UAE to regulate the activities of NGOs, including donations and fundraising. The new law will be implemented in accordance with international standards. This is part of the strengthening of action against counterfeiting and aiding and abetting terrorism.
Nasser Ismail, assistant undersecretary at the Ministry of Social Development and a member of the anti – money laundering committee, said all NGOs in the UAE should refrain from violating the law. Only organizations recognized in the country have the right to accept donations from the public.
Authorities are monitoring all organizations operating in the UAE. The decision was made to strengthen awareness about this.
