A mutant virus with 32 spike mutations has emerged.

After it was first discovered in Botswana on the 11th of last month, six cases were confirmed in South Africa and one in Hong Kong.

A Hong Kong man in his 30s was confirmed two days after returning from a visit to South Africa.

Although the risk of this mutation is not yet clear, South Africa’s Ministry of Health has warned that it could be highly contagious.

In the midst of this, Germany’s daily confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded an all-time high of 75,000, and the death toll exceeded 100,000.

The Czech Republic has declared a national emergency for 30 days and has banned pubs and clubs after 10 p.m.
