| New Reform in SupplyCo: Coconut Oil: Subsidy per half litre; You have to buy a liter to get it

Thiruvananthapuram: Supplyco has stopped selling half a liter of subsidized coconut oil due to high demand. If you get subsidy, you have to buy a liter. Still the subsidy is only for half a litre. In effect the subsidy was reduced by a quarter.

Supplyco CMD has sent a strange message to the regional-depot managers the other day. The prices of palm oil, sunflower and other edible oils are skyrocketing. Meanwhile, the sale of subsidized half-litre Sabari coconut oil at Supplyco outlets has increased exponentially. Sales of non-subsidized coconut oil also declined. It is in this background that it has been decided to sell one liter.

The CMD points out that the sale of unsubsidized coconut oil is at least a huge financial burden for Supplyco. 11,92,386 packets of a liter were sold in April and 10,56,494 packets in May. Only 47,004 packets of one liter were sold in April. 52,076 in May.
