New tracks probably lead to the Ukraine

Who damaged the two Baltic Sea pipelines Nord Stream 1 and 2? According to a report, the evidence of perpetrators from Ukraine should increase.

Eight months after the explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, according to a report, the evidence of Ukrainian perpetrators is increasing. The metadata of an e-mail that was sent when the “Andromeda” yacht, which was allegedly used to transport the explosives, was rented, is said to lead to Ukraine, the “Spiegel” reported on Friday. Remains of underwater explosives used in both the West and the former Eastern Bloc were found in the ship’s cabin.

The traces coincided with assessments by several intelligence services, according to which the authors of the explosions were to be located in Ukraine, the “Spiegel” reported further. It is questionable whether the deed could have been carried out by an “uncontrolled commando” or by Ukrainian secret services and to what extent parts of the Ukrainian government apparatus might have been informed about it.

At the end of September, the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, which run under the Baltic Sea, were damaged in the explosions, the cause of which is still unclear. The blasts caused several leaks in the pipelines built to transport Russian gas to Germany. Read more about it here.
