Wellington: New Zealand has announced a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics following the US. New Zealand has said it will not send diplomatic representatives to China. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Grand Robertson. New Zealand has said it is boycotting the Olympics because of the Kovid threat.

It has already been made clear that ministers will not be sent to the Olympics. He added that New Zealand had not sent diplomatic missions as per the US decision. There are several reasons for the diplomatic boycott of the Olympics. Kovid is also a factor. Currently there is no suitable situation to send delegates. China was notified in October.

He added that New Zealand had already protested China’s human rights abuses.
