Greta Thunberg will return to Lausanne on January 17 for a climate event. The Swedish activist, who had already traveled last summer to the Vaud capital, will participate in the first anniversary of the climate strike movement in Switzerland.

The announcement was made on the website of the Swiss climate strike collective – climatestrike.ch -, which invites all activists from the country to participate in this national event alongside Greta Thunberg. The January 17 march will take place in a bustling city of Lausanne due to the Youth Olympic Games. The organizers gave an appointment to the demonstrators at 10:30 am in front of the station.

Greta Thunberg had already come to Lausanne last August. The young woman, who has just celebrated her 17th birthday, participated for a week in the Smile For Future summit at the University of Lausanne. A summit which had already ended with a walk in the streets of the Vaud capital.

After Lausanne, Greta Thunberg should take the road to Davos this time. As in 2019, the country of the fight against global warming was invited to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF), announced several Albanian media.

Three-day walk in Graubünden

Climate activists announced Thursday that they are organizing a three-day march, from January 19 to 21, between Landquart (GR) and Davos, on the occasion of the WEF. They have received authorization from the Grison government, said the Greens of Graubünden (Verda).

The objective is to make WEF participants aware of their responsibility for climate protection. It is not yet known if Greta Thunberg will participate in the march.

On their arrival Davos, the walkers intend to demonstrate with the Young Socialists (Juso) of Graubünden. The Juso hope to obtain authorization for this event on Tuesday.
