Thiruvananthapuram – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided popular front offices in the state. Nine people, including national, state and local leaders, were taken into custody by the NII in raids in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Thrissur and Kannur. The raid started at 4.30 in the morning. 100 people were taken into custody in raids conducted by the NIA in 10 states. Apart from Kerala, the raids took place in Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Telangana and UP.

The raid follows cases registered in Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram, and raids are ongoing in more than fifty places including popular front offices and houses of national, state and local leaders. The raid is under the security of the central forces. Mobile phones and laptops were seized during the raids at the leaders’ houses.

Four mobile phones and pamphlets were seized in Thiruvananthapuram. A pen drive was seized from the house of Popular Front leader Ashraf Moulavi in ​​Puntura. A popular member of the state front committee, Yahia, took them to the custody of the NII from their house in Thrissur. The raid was conducted at Mundakkaya and Peruvanthanam in Kottayam district. Popular Front Pathanamthitta district secretary Mundu Kottakal Sadiq and regional office of Adoor Paggode were raided. The office of the district committee in Kannur Thane was also raided.

A protest was held in Pathanamthitta against the raid led by Popular Front workers. The workers protested in front of the Thiruvananthapuram district committee office after the inspection was also conducted. The state leadership of the Popular Front responded through social media saying that state terrorism is happening and the fascist regime’s move to silence opposition voices should be defeated using investigative agencies.
