Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to one year in prison for spending twice as much as he was allowed to campaign on. No need to be in jail. All you have to do is wear an electronic brace on your leg and stay under house arrest.
The court found that Sarkozy had spent twice the 22 225 million (Rs 193.44 crore) allowed on his campaign in the 2012 election, which he lost. This is Sarkozy’s second prison sentence.
