Nintendo Producer Eiji Aonuma Confirms No Additional Content for ‘The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Additional Content Unlikely, Says Nintendo Producer

Nintendo’s highly acclaimed game ‘The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’ is unlikely to receive any additional content, according to producer Eiji Aonuma.

In an interview with Famitsu on the 6th, Aonuma revealed that there are no plans to release additional content for Tears of the Kingdom. This comes as a departure from the previous game, ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,’ which had introduced two types of downloadable content (DLC) – ‘Loser of the Ordeal’ and ‘Song of the Young Girls.’

When asked about the reason behind this decision, Aonuma stated, “I felt that I had exhausted all possibilities in creating a game within that world. Tears of the Kingdom was conceived as a sequel to the previous game because I wanted players to have a fresh, new experience in the land of Hyrule.”

Furthermore, Aonuma hinted at the next installment in the series, stating that a decision had not yet been made whether it would be a completely new game or a sequel to Tears of the Kingdom. However, he teased that fans can expect a “completely new type of play.”

During the interview, Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi also shared his thoughts on the next project, saying, “While we are uncertain about the specific details of the next game, we are focused on creating the ‘next fun experience’ for our players.”

It seems that additional content for the GOTY 2023 (Game of the Year) nomination ‘The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’ (hereinafter referred to as Tears of the Kingdom) will not be released.

Nintendo’s producer Eiji Aonuma answered in an interview with Famitsu on the 6th that there are no plans to release additional content for Tears of the Kingdom. In the case of the previous work, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, additional content was introduced as two types of DLC, Loser of the Ordeal and Song of the Young Girls.

About the reason, he said, “I felt that I had done everything in my power to create a game in that world. The reason why I made Tears of the Kingdom as a sequel to the previous game instead first was because I thought it would be worth experiencing a new game in Hyrule.”

He also talked about the next work to be released in the future. A decision has not yet been made whether it will be a completely new work or a sequel to Tears of the Kingdom, but it is anticipated that it will be a completely new type of play.

Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi, who participated in the interview together, said, “I don’t know what the next work will look like, but I’m thinking what the ‘next fun experience’ will be.”
