Kochi: Sanal Kumar, 45, of Mylapore, Pathanamthitta, was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs 1,25,000 by the Ernakulam Poxo Court in another case for abducting and torturing the actress. In 2013, Judge K Soman convicted a 14-year-old girl in a rape case. According to the prosecution, the girl was abducted from Ernakulam, locked up in a lodge in Palani and tortured several times.
The girl was rescued by the Kalamassery police four days later following a complaint lodged by her father following her disappearance. The first accused in the case, NS Sunilkumar (Pulsar Suni), was introduced to the actress while he was in remand in a marriage fraud case registered by the Maratha police. The phone was taken into custody by the probe team from Sanalkumar’s house. With this, Sanalkumar was made the 9th accused in the case of molesting the actress.
Special Public Prosecutor PA Bindu and Advocate Sarun Mankara appeared for the prosecution in the case filed by Kalamassery Inspector MB Latheef.
Conspiracy: Sarath granted anticipatory bail
Kochi: The High Court has granted anticipatory bail to actor Dileep’s friend and sixth accused Sarath in a case of conspiracy to endanger the probe team in the rape case of the actress. The case was registered after director Balachandra Kumar revealed that the accused, including Dileep, had conspired to assassinate the investigating officers.
