Fear Dispelled as New Order Sets Temporary Closure
Kozhikode: The previous decision to indefinitely shut down educational institutions in the district due to the confirmation of Nipah has now been overturned. A new order has been issued, stating that educational institutions will remain closed until the 23rd of this month. The initial announcement of the closure had sparked fear among the public.
The revised order also mandates that online classes be conducted between September 18 and 23. This directive applies to schools, private learning centers, and Anganwadis.
In light of the situation, all examinations scheduled to be conducted by Calicut University have also been postponed. The exams originally planned between September 18 and 23 will be rescheduled, with the new dates to be announced at a later time. Additionally, appreciation camps have been postponed as well.
No Additional Cases Reported; A Glimpse of Relief
In related news, Health Minister Veena George has confirmed that 11 more Nipah samples have tested negative. These 11 samples belonged to a high-risk category, and the results of people who had close contact with Nipah-positive patients have been released.
Furthermore, there are currently six positive cases in the state, with two unfortunate fatalities. At present, 21 individuals are under medical care at the local hospital. Minister Veena George has provided reassurance stating that the health condition of those receiving treatment has shown signs of improvement. Notably, even the child on a ventilator has shown positive progress.
Case Filed Against Couple Residing in House Where Nipah Fatality Occurred
Additionally, police have filed a case against the couple who resided in the house where the Nipah fatality took place. Authorities have alleged that the mandated quarantine was breached.
