Nitish should be Presidential candidate; Opposition parties express support – Nitish Kumar | Presidential election

Patna: Opposition parties in Bihar have said they are ready to support Chief Minister Nitish Kumar if he becomes the next presidential candidate. Opposition parties, including the RJD and the Congress, were reacting to Janata Dal (U) minister Shravan Kumar’s statement that Nitish Kumar was a fit candidate for the presidency. RJD spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan said it would be a matter of pride to make someone from Bihar president.

Gagan pointed out that the RJD had supported Meira Kumar, a native of Bihar, last time the Congress fielded her as its presidential candidate. Congress leader Ajit Sharma has said that secular Nitish Kumar would be the best presidential candidate.

He said it would be a good thing that Nitish, who has served the people of Bihar, now wants to serve the country. CPI (ML) state secretary Kunal has said that the BJP may field Nitish Kumar as vice-president to oust him from the post of Bihar chief minister.
