UsThe port teaser with Vin Pauly is out. Directed by Rajeev Ravi, the film will hit the theaters on March 10. The film is releasing after a long wait. Magic Frames, owned by Listyn Stephen, presents the film.
The theme of the film Thuramugam is the chapa system of division of labor that existed in Kochi until 1962 and the workers’ struggle to end it. Nivin Pauly plays the lead role of Mattancheri Moitu in the film.
Apart from Nivin Pauly, the film has a huge cast. Joju George, Indrajith Sukumaran, Nimisha Sajayan, Purnima Indrajith, Arjun Asokan, Darshana Rajendran, Sudev Nair, Manikanthan Achari, Senthil Krishna, Santosh Keezhatoor are the other actors.
Director Rajeev Ravi himself is doing the cinematography. Gopan Chidambaran has written the script and dialogues for Port. Editor – B. Ajith Kumar, Music – Shahbaz
The story begins in the 1920s when the new port of Kochi was being built. Many job seekers from different parts of the country gather in front of the offices of labor contractors. A time when workers fought each other for the metal tokens thrown by contractors and builders, to get jobs for an earlier day. Later in the story which moves to the 1940s and 50s, the overgrown port of Kochi is a breeding ground for a mafia consisting of contractors, capitalists and allied union leaders. A time when workers have to fight for their right to work and live with dignity. Port is the story of the survival of a family and a nation going through this turbulent period. The film tells the story of two generations torn between good and evil, between tragedy and heroic resistance, between hope and despair.
