Mumbai: Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman has reportedly told the BCCI that he does not want to head the National Cricket Academy. The BCCI is looking for the head of the National Cricket Academy to fill the vacancy left by Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian team.

VVS Laxman is another superstar of the Sachin-Ganguly-Dravid era. Therefore, the BCCI wanted to hand over the responsibility of the cricket academy to Laxman to nurture the youngsters. Sourav Gam Guli’s presidency of the BCCI also strengthened the move.

The move was activated to find Dravid’s successor

However, there are indications that Laxman has turned down the BCCI’s offer. Following this, the BCCI activated a move to find another NCA head. Rahul Dravid, the current head of the cricket academy, will take over as the coach of the Indian team after the Twenty20 World Cup.

Laxman, 46, is currently the mentor of IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad and the batting consultant for the Bengal cricket team in domestic cricket. Laxman, one of the best Indian batsmen in Test cricket, has scored 8781 runs from 134 matches, including 17 centuries.
