No one was present for Madhu; The court asked where the Special Public Prosecutor was
Kozhikode: The court asked where is the special prosecutor to argue the case of Madhu who was killed in a mob attack in Attappadi. The question was raised by the Mannarkkad SC and ST special court. No one was present for Madhu when the case was considered.
The Special Public Prosecutor had written to the DGP to drop the case. Government-appointed VT Raghunath has announced his resignation.
Following this, the case was adjourned to February 26. The government-appointed VT has been appointed as the special public prosecutor in the case. Earlier, a letter was issued to withdraw from the Raghunath case.
Madhu’s murder shocked Kerala’s conscience on February 22, 2018. Madhu was tied up for theft and brutally beaten by the mob.
Protests erupted after images of Madhu being beaten up spread on social media. Police had arrested all the 16 accused.
However, the trial in the case, which was filed in May 2018, has been delayed. All the 16 accused are currently out on bail.
