According to a report by Japan’s NHK on the 7th, a Russian government official confirmed that North Korea and Russia are currently in coordination for an upcoming summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok.
The Russian official, who spoke to NHK on the previous day, revealed that the two countries are actively working towards organizing this summit. One possible location under consideration is a university situated on an island off the coast of Vladivostok.
Furthermore, in preparation for the summit, an official from the university proposed that all students entering or leaving the campus on the 5th must undergo a Corona 19 gene amplification test (PCR).
In an interesting development, there are discussions about Chairman Kim and President Putin potentially visiting military facilities in the Far East during their time together.
If the North Korea-Russia summit does indeed take place, it is anticipated that an arms deal between North Korea and Ukraine, deemed necessary for the war, may be facilitated by Russia.
A Russian government official commented, “The North Korean side has been altering their schedule,” emphasizing the importance of paying close attention to the final details on the timing and location of the meeting. Coordination is expected to persist until the last possible moment.
Prior to this, the New York Times had raised the possibility of Chairman Kim meeting President Putin at the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok, Russia. This particular venue will also host the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) event from the 10th to the 13th.
Overall, the North Korea-Russia summit presents an opportunity for Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin to strengthen bilateral ties and potentially address important geopolitical matters.
