North Korea: “U.S. interference in Taiwan affairs is dangerous to the situation on the Korean Peninsula”

North Korea supports China in the US-China conflict over the Taiwan issue, arguing that US policies pose a threat to the Korean Peninsula as well.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said today (23rd), “The situation in Taiwan has nothing to do with the situation on the Korean Peninsula,” said Vice Foreign Minister Park Myung-ho. “There is a potential risk that can cause it,” he said.

As the reason, Vice President Park said, “It is well known that the US troops and military bases stationed in South Korea are being used to oppress China, and that the vast force of the US and its followers who are gathering around Taiwan can be used in military operations targeting us at any time. of the fact”.

He also pointed out that the US “is increasing the level of military threat to China,” referring to the passage of US ships through the Taiwan Strait, approval of large-scale arms sales to Taiwan, and military exercises in the waters surrounding Taiwan.

Vice-President Park reaffirmed the existing position that “the actions of the United States are outright interference in internal affairs of the People’s Republic of China and a grave threat to international peace and stability” “I fully support the position of the Chinese government and people, which must be realized,” he said.

“The United States should keep in mind that their reckless interference in internal affairs, their divisive maneuvers and their outright double standards will only lead to the disastrous result of stabbing themselves in the foot with an axe,” he said.

“We will continue to monitor the hegemonic behavior of the United States in relation to the Taiwan issue with an open mind in connection with the situation on the Korean peninsula,” he said.
