The Fujairah Adventure Center said you will have to pay a fine of up to half a lakh dirhams if you go on an adventure braving the heat.

Climbing the hills of Fujairah is prohibited until further notice. Violations of the law, whether by individuals or companies, are subject to fines. The ban is because climbing is unsafe at high temperatures. Dehydration and sunburn are more life-threatening. The law has been tightened as people embarking on adventure trips are at risk. Observers were appointed on the mountain tickets to detect cases of breaking the law.

Many people venture into the rugged mountain regions without the help of tourist guides. Guidelines for leisure and adventure travel have already been distributed to organizations in the tourism sector. Climbing training is also provided. The authorities have also sought the help of the nearby residents to nab the criminals. The fine will be Dh25,000 in the first instance and Dh50,000 for repeat offences.
