NSC checks the situation in Ukraine… Support for the safety of the Beijing Winter Olympics

The Blue House announced on the 27th that the National Security Council (NSC) reviewed the ripple effect on the Korean economy and countermeasures in case of emergency in Ukraine.

According to the Blue House, the NSC Standing Committee held a regular meeting this afternoon presided over by National Security Office Director Suh Hoon and discussed these issues.

The meeting was attended by Nam Young-sook, economic adviser at the Blue House, Joo Young-joon, director of industrial policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Kim Byung-hwan, director of economic policy at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance to discuss Ukraine-related measures.

In addition, the NSC standing members decided to check the preparations for dispatching the government delegation to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, which will start on the 4th of next month, and to provide necessary support for the safe participation of the Korean athletes in the tournament.

Measures to quickly overcome the domestic Corona 19 situation, such as the rapid spread of Omicron, were also discussed.

The standing members decided to do their best to manage and support quarantine by mobilizing all available security and diplomatic capabilities, such as ▲ military medical support ▲ implementation of special quarantine measures for domestic and foreign service members ▲ cooperation with US forces in Korea ▲ quarantine cooperation with the international community.
