NVIDIA Broadcast now supports SLR cameras from various companies Noise removal with AI has evolved –Engadget Japanese version

The United States NVIDIA has updated the video distribution support application “NVIDIA Broadcast” using GPU processing to version 1.3. As a result, high-quality single-lens reflex cameras can also be used with the app.

NVIDIA Broadcast is an application that combines the extraordinary performance of NVIDIA’s GPU series “GeForce RTX” with processing by AI (artificial intelligence). For example, it has functions such as removing background audio noise, blurring the background of the broadcaster, and replacing it with other images.

This version 1.3 supports the so-called “single-lens camera webcam conversion tool”, “Canon EOS Webcam Utility”, “Nikon Webcam Utility”, and “Sony Webcam Utility” released by digital camera makers. Video distribution using NVIDIA Broadcast is possible with high-quality cameras compatible with each tool. It also supports “OBS Virtual Camera”, which provides a virtual camera function.

Regarding noise removal, in the past, when a broadcaster suddenly spoke in a loud voice or spoke at a high pitch, that voice was also judged to be noise and was removed in some cases. However, in version 1.3, by preparing a dedicated training sample profile, it is possible to achieve both noise removal and sound maintenance.

In the past, when multiple AI processes such as voice, speakers, and cameras were used at the same time, the available VRAM capacity was sometimes limited. However, version 1.3 has been redesigned to minimize the load on the system by reducing VRAM usage by more than 40%.

Recently, due to changes in lifestyle, more and more people are staying at home, and more and more people are trying to distribute videos such as games. In such a case, it seems that there are many cases where NVIDIA Broadcast, which makes full use of the surplus GPU power, is useful.
