Obituary: Audrey Millican

Audrey Millican, born on March 27, 1928 in Bell California, passed away on September 26, 2020.

Andrea Ruth Broz was the youngest of the three children born to Eva Trobec and Rudy Broz. She met her husband, Paul Millican, in Avalon on July 4, 1948.

She and Paul married on September 19, 1949 and began a love affair that lasted for both of their lives. They loved to travel and dance, and lived in California until 1976 when Paul’s work took them to Florida, where they lived in Lakeland and eventually bought a house in Boca Grande.

Boca Grande was their island retreat for the weekend until they moved here permanently in 1987.

Always active, Audrey made books for the firefighters and the Boca Grande Woman’s Club.

They then moved to Lakewood Ranch and moved to Tampa in 2015 to be close to family.

They raised two children in California, Michael (Peggie) and Patrick (Barbara), who gave their four grandchildren to spoil (Travis, Coral Filippelli, Payton and Petra).

Passionate about college football and tennis enthusiast, she loved talking about sports and wowed people with her knowledge of teams and players, even in her 90s!

Audrey had a very positive outlook on life and kept her recent physical setbacks in check by handling them gracefully. She has been able to bring out the best in people and leaves behind many friends and relatives who loved her very much.

The services took place at the Sarasota National Cemetery on October 7. Donations in his memory can be made to the Humane Society.
