(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Kyung-yoon Lim Ji-woo = The recent controversy over ‘friend casting’ in the musical world is leading to a high-profile battle between musical actors.
A source from Ock Joo-hyun’s side said on the 22nd, “We have filed a complaint with the Seongdong Police Station against musical actor Kim Ho-young and two netizens.”
It is known that the complaint filed the previous day included allegations of defamation based on false facts.
This is because EMK Musical Company double-casted Ock Joo-hyun and Lee Ji-hye as the main characters in the 5th season of ‘Elisabeth’, which opens in August, on the 15th, and the so-called ‘friend casting’ controversy arose.
An opinion was raised that it was because he was close with Ock Joo-hyun over the fact that Lee Ji-hye, not Kim So-hyun, who had been nicknamed ‘So Eli,’ was cast as the lead, and Kim Ho-young posted on social media, “Asari-pan is a thing of the past. When the post ‘Now jade plate’ was posted, the controversy grew as the interpretation that ‘jade plate’ was an expression aimed at Ock Joo-hyeon intensified.
After the facts of the charges were made known, Kim Ho-young’s agency, PL K Good Friends, issued a statement saying, “I cannot understand the fact that Ock Joo-hyun made a judgment about the situation only with unconfirmed content.” This has damaged the actor’s reputation.”
He added, “If any damage is caused to actor Kim Ho-young due to the contents, we will take strong legal action for defamation,” he added.
An official from PLK Good Friends explained, “I wrote this personally, and I know that there was no intention to shoot Ock Joo-hyun.” However, he declined to comment on whether or not to accuse him of innocence.
