The president’s office announced that Deputy Speaker Lee Jae-myeong has expressed his resignation after President Yoon Seok-yeol’s trip schedule to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Switzerland leaked recently.

A high-ranking official from the presidential office met with reporters at the Yongsan presidential office on the 29th and said, “The presidential office regrets that the overseas trip provided to the press corps has been leaked to the outside , causing a lack of respect and danger in terms of security and diplomacy.” I took moral responsibility for it and expressed my gratitude.”

It is explained that the presidential schedule shared with the press corps shortly before President Yoon’s visit, which lasted 8 days and 6 nights from the 14th, was leaked, and as a result, the deputy spokesperson who responsible for communicating with the reporters resigned.

Before the regular trip, the presidential office has informed the reporters in advance about part of the president’s schedule on the basis of embargo (delayed reporting up to a certain point) and external security for the convenience of reporters. However, since the President’s schedule was leaked before this trip, it is known that the President’s office asked the UAE to understand and partially change the schedule before leaving the country.

In September last year, after Speaker Kang In-sun was appointed foreign public relations secretary, the post of speaker, which had been vacant for four months, and then the post of deputy speaker, so for now, Kim Eun-hye, chief public relations officer, is expected to play ‘three roles per person’.

In the meantime, the president’s office plans to discuss follow-up measures related to this security incident.

A high-ranking official said, “We intend to review measures to prevent it from happening from different angles.”
