Thiruvananthapuram: Fuel prices have gone up again. Petrol price was hiked by 35 paise and diesel by 37 paise yesterday. In Kochi, petrol price rose to 105.45 and diesel to 99.09 yesterday. Kozhikode: Petrol and diesel prices are 105.57 and 99.26 respectively. In Thiruvananthapuram, petrol price was Rs 107.41 and diesel Rs 100.94. India has one of the highest fuel prices in the world. The daily rise in fuel prices by oil companies has put people in crisis. There was a demand to reduce the tax levied by the Central and State Governments to reduce prices. There was also a demand for inclusion in the GST to reduce prices. However, the council decided not to include petrol and diesel in the GST after a majority of states opposed it. The central government is opposing the price hike, arguing that the states have not agreed to include fuel prices in the GST because fuel prices in the country have not fallen.
