Oman death toll rises

Muscat: Drowning deaths are on the rise in the country. Last year, 521 drowning deaths were reported in various governorates of Oman. This is an increase of 44.3 per cent compared to 2020. According to the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority, there will be 361 deaths in Oman by 2020.

Last year, the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority handled 521 cases related to drowning deaths. Swimming requires skill and alertness. Do not try to swim without such things. Civil defense figures show that drowning deaths in Oman in previous years were 268 in 2016, 173 in 2017, 155 in 2018 and 369 in 2019. Everyone should be careful and follow safety rules to avoid accidents while swimming. Those going on adventure trips and swimmers in plaintiffs should wear life jackets and follow the guidelines. Those intending to go on a trip, including swimming, should rely on tourism companies that provide the best safety equipment. Authorities also demanded that parents be prepared to teach their children to swim.
