Nine women in the first round of a women’s taxi to be launched in Oman. This is the first time in Oman that women have been allowed to operate a taxi service.
O Taxi, a local taxi service app, is licensed by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology to operate women’s taxi services in Oman. The first phase of the service will be on a trial basis from January 20 at the Muscat Governorate. Later it will be extended to other governorates. The women’s taxi will be available in white and pink.
The service is designed to deliver door-to-door services in Muscat. Women’s taxis will be of great benefit to people, including women, who go to schools, colleges and other places. It is hoped that many women will find employment in this sector in the future.
