Scientists around the world are studying the new variant of the Kovid, the omicron. Studies show that the new variant is more dangerous than the delta or beta variant.

A study published by South African scientists on Thursday found that the Omicron variant was three times more likely to become infected again than other variants such as the Delta. The study also mentions Omicron’s ability to overcome human immunity, compared to other variants.

The study report, which was uploaded to a medical preprint server, has not yet been expertly reviewed. The study also found that people who once came to Kovid were three times more likely to develop the omicron variant. As of Nov. 27, 35,670 of the 2.8 million people with Covid positive were suspected of having re-infection.

‘People who had their first infection are thought to have had another infection recently …’ Juliet Pullium, Director, South African DSI-NRF Center of Excellence in Epidemiological Modeling and Analysis Tweeted.

Although an increase in cases has been predicted, it is hoped that vaccines will still be effective against serious side effects. Anne von Gottberg, expert at the National Institute for Communicable Diseases Said.

Vaccines are still believed to protect against serious diseases. The World Health Organization (WHO) says vaccines can protect against serious illness, hospitalization and death.
