Omicron mutations spread one after another in Central and South America… First confirmed case in Chile

(Mexico City = Yonhap News) Correspondent Mi-hye Ko = In Central and South America, a new mutation of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), Omicron, is emerging one after another.

Chile’s health authorities said on the 4th (local time) that a foreigner living in Chile from Ghana, Africa, was the first confirmed case of the omicron mutation.

The patient had received two doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine and is now in good condition, authorities said.

In Latin America, previously confirmed cases of Omicron mutation were also confirmed in Brazil and Mexico.
