Three hostages were killed and two wounded in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and the suspect was arrested.

Police said three paramedics went to the 66-year-old suspect’s home last night to mourn the death of a relative of the suspect. The male paramedic escaped and made a report to the police station, where the suspect confronted the police overnight.

About 11 hours after the incident, the police entered the house this morning to rescue people and arrested the suspect. The male doctor who was taken hostage was sent to the hospital and was confirmed dead. The shot nurse was in serious condition.

The 44-year-old doctor is the suspect’s family doctor, and the motive for the case is unclear, the report said.
