Representative Lee’s side claims that the prosecution deliberately delayed the first investigation on the 28th of last month and requested a second investigation. There was also an allegation that “at the time of the investigation, the investigation team told CEO Lee that he had to eat lunch unconditionally.” Regarding this, an officer from the prosecution said, “Given that the investigation was carried out until late, we asked if he had eaten, and the meal proceeded through a discussion with the subject investigation.”
An official from the prosecution added, “The investigation team also asked for two investigations to reduce the demand for the suspect.” As there is a lot of content and volume to investigate, it means that if it was an ordinary suspect, not a representative of the opposition party, that only two investigations would have been insufficient. An officer from the prosecution explained that it is very rare that an investigation is carried out with a certain minimum number of summons and investigations like this.
An official from the prosecution said, “At the time, the mayor of Seongnam (CEO Lee) was prosecuted after an arrest warrant was issued on charges of providing preferential treatment and pursuing private interests by collaborating with private businessmen. ” I think it is natural to conduct an investigation against CEO Lee regarding the content that was reported and approved.”
The prosecution is discussing the timetable for the second summons with Lee. The prosecutors, who completed the first investigation on the 28th of last month, asked him to appear again on the 31st of last month or the 1st of this month, but Lee refused, saying he could not be present during the week. Given that the Democratic Party is holding a rally to condemn the prosecution dictatorship of the Yoon Seok-yeol regime on the 4th this weekend, the second investigation will probably be next Saturday, the 11th.
An official from the prosecution said, “We hope that there will be an active call to clarify the substantive truth about the questions raised in the next investigation.”
