[Brussels joint]The Belgian newspaper Record reported that a new freighter line connecting Belgium and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in China was opened by the 11th. It has also been criticized for allegations that European Union (EU) sanctioned companies are involved in exports to Belgium over human rights abuses.
According to the Record newspaper, it connected Liege in eastern Belgium with Kashgar in the western part of the autonomous region and opened on January 18. So far, three flights have arrived in Liege, and a total of 75 tons of goods have been delivered. All three flights were operated by a Maltese company.
“There remains a question that the goods were manufactured by forced labor,” the Reco newspaper said.
