Thiruvananthapuram: The orange alert issued in various districts has been withdrawn due to rains. Yellow alert is currently in place in all districts. However, the Central Meteorological Department said that the monsoon will continue in Kerala due to the presence of cyclones over northern Tamil Nadu and adjoining areas and low pressure over Tamil Nadu over Madhya Pradesh.
Heavy rains inundated many parts of Kochi city, including low-lying areas and major roads. MG Road, Valanjambalam and Panampilly Nagar areas were flooded. The inlets are also under water in coastal areas including Vipin and Njarakkal. The rains will continue in hilly areas including Kothamangalam. Taluk based control rooms started functioning in Ernakulam district. Two teams of the Disaster Management Force are camping.
