Orix announces the acquisition of Seibu and Yuya Mori.

2018, 2019, 2021 and won the Top Nine three times

On the 16th, Orix announced the acquisition of Tomoya Mori, a domestic free agent (FA) catcher from Seibu. Japan’s best baseball team won the competition between multiple teams.

Mori, who entered Seibu with the 1st pick in the 2013 draft, won the league’s leading hitter and MVP as a regular catcher in 2019. He won the Top Nine in 2018, 2019 and 2021. 251 average with 8 homers and 38 RBI in 102 games this season. Born in Osaka, he also played for Orix Junior in 2007 when he was in elementary school.

The team won back-to-back league titles this season and won first place in Japan for the first time in 26 years. In addition, catcher Fushimi Toratake, who featured in 75 games as a catcher this season, the most in the team, was exercising domestic FA rights and was likely to be transferred.

It was absolutely necessary to reinforce the catcher who had a hit. Orix has managed to acquire one of the best catchers in the world of baseball, aiming to win the league for the third year in a row and the best in Japan for the second year in a row.
