Oval: It has been almost two years since he scored a century in international cricket, but India captain Virat Kohli has set a new batting record in the Oval Test against England. Kohli holds the record for the fastest batsman to cross 23,000 runs in international cricket at the Oval.

Kohli has scored 23000 runs from 490 innings. Kohli is second only to Sachin Tendulkar in scoring 23,000 runs in 522 innings. Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting is third behind Kohli and Tendulkar with 23,000 runs from 544 innings.

Kohli is only the seventh batsman to reach 23,000 runs in international cricket. Apart from Kohli, Jacques Kallis (551 innings), Kumar Sangakkara (568), Rahul Dravid (576) and Mahela Jayawardene (645) were the other notable contributors. Kohli was just one run away from a historic victory in the Oval Test.

Kohli has not scored a single international century in the last 51 innings. Kohli’s last international century was against Bangladesh in November 2019 at the Eden Gardens.
