On May 31, the feast of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, the priests of the Diocese of Rancagua, who were gathered in the monthly meeting of the clergy, in the premises of the Sanctuary of Pelequén, greeted the Bishop of Rancagua, Monsignor Guillermo Vera Soto , for his twentieth anniversary of episcopal ordination.

The staff of the Bishopric of Rancagua, religious men and women, deacons and the representatives of the different parishes of the Diocese who sent their greetings to the bishop of Rancagua on his episcopal anniversary and asked that the good God give him strength also participated in this greeting. and the wisdom to continue guiding the people of God in the O’Higgins region.

Bishop Guillermo Vera Soto was born on June 7, 1958 in Isla de Maipo. He was ordained a priest on June 12, 1982 in the Cathedral of Santiago by the then Auxiliary Bishop of Santiago, Monsignor Manuel Camilo Vial Risopatrón.

On April 10, 2003, the Holy Father John Paul II named him Bishop Prelate of Calama. He was consecrated Bishop on May 31, 2003.

Then, in 2014, his pastoral destination was the Diocese of Iquique, where he remained until July 23, 2021, when he assumed the Diocese of Rancagua.
