Padma Awards 2022: Jairam Ramesh indirectly criticizes Ghulam Nabi Azad for accepting Padma Award

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has indirectly criticized Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad for accepting the Padma Award. Said. Jairam Ramesh tweeted that Buddhadeb does not want to be a slave but a free man. The tweet reads ‘He wants to be Azad not Ghulam’.

Buddhadeb himself said that he would reject Padma Bhushan. He said the decision was taken in consultation with the party. Sitaram Yechury shared Buddhadeb Bhattacharya’s statement on Twitter. Senior musician Sandhya Mukhopadhyay also turned down the Padma Shri award.

The Central Government announced the Padma Awards today. Four people, including Joint Chiefs of Staff General Bipin Rawat, who were killed in a helicopter crash, have been awarded this year’s Padma Vibhushan. The Padma Bhushan is for 17 people, including senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and senior CPM leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharya. The Central Government has announced the names of 128 award winners, including Padma Shri recipients.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh was also awarded the Padma Vibhushan. Radheshyam Khemka from UP was also posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan in the field of literature and education. Prabha Atre from Maharashtra is another recipient of the Padma Vibhushan.

Dr. Shoshamma Ipp, a Malayalee, received the Padma Shri award for his work related to the conservation of Vechoor cows. Poet and critic P Narayana Kurup is another Malayalee who has won the Padma Shri. Najma Akhtar and Sonu Nigam have also received Padma Shri.
