Naseem Shah Ruled Out of Asia Cup Due to Shoulder Injury
Colombo
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially confirmed the unavailability of pacer Naseem Shah for the remainder of the Asia Cup. The young fast bowler suffered a shoulder injury during the Super Four match against India and was subsequently sidelined. As a replacement, right-arm fast bowler Zaman Khan has been drafted into the squad.
Naseem Shah’s untimely departure occurred just hours before a crucial encounter against Sri Lanka in the Super Four. The PCB clarified that Shah’s exclusion from the remaining matches of the Asia Cup is a precautionary measure, considering the upcoming ODI World Cup. The gifted paceman had to leave the field after injuring his right shoulder during the match against India, failing to complete his allotted overs. Despite a valiant effort, Shah remained wicketless after bowling 9.2 overs.
In other news, Pakistani player Harris Rauf has successfully recovered from his fitness issues, according to the PCB. Rauf only bowled five overs in the encounter against India before being sidelined due to injury. However, his rehabilitation has been successful, and he is slated to participate in the crucial match against Sri Lanka on Thursday.
These developments have brought changes and challenges to the Pakistani cricket team ahead of the remaining Asia Cup matches. Nevertheless, the team remains focused on their preparations and determined to put up a strong performance in the upcoming fixtures.
