Pakistan’s Prime Minister begs as India achieves lunar milestone and hosts G20 summit: Nawaz Sharif

Pakistan Begs while India Reaches New Heights: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

LAHORE: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, expressed his concern about the country’s current situation, highlighting the stark contrast with India’s achievements in space exploration and global diplomacy. During a video conference addressing a party meeting in Lahore, Sharif questioned why Pakistan lagged behind India, who not only successfully reached the moon but also earned the opportunity to host the prestigious G20 summit.

Speaking from London, where he is currently residing, Sharif emphasized the need for introspection and accountability. Drawing a comparison, he reminded the audience that India’s foreign exchange reserves, valued at a mere one billion dollars when Atal Bihari Vajpayee took office as Prime Minister, have now soared to an impressive $600 billion. Meanwhile, Pakistan finds itself in the unfortunate position of seeking financial assistance from various nations.

Sharif further announced his return to Pakistan on October 21, putting an end to his four-year exile in London. He expressed his determination to lead the party’s campaign in the upcoming general elections, confidently predicting victory for his political party.

It’s worth mentioning that Sharif sought permission from the court to travel to London for medical treatment in 2019, during his incarceration for seven years in the Al-Azizia Mills corruption case. However, since then, he has refrained from returning to Pakistan. The Panama Papers case verdict in 2017 permanently barred him from holding any public office. The Pakistan Muslim League (N) party has been actively working on securing bail for Sharif prior to his much-anticipated return next month.

LAHORE: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said his country is begging the world as India reaches the moon and hosts the G20 summit. “While India is reaching the moon and hosting the G20 summit, Pakistan’s prime minister is pleading from country to country. Why Pakistan could not achieve what India achieved. Who is responsible for this?” he asked.

Nawaz Sharif, who is currently in London, was addressing the party meeting in Lahore on Monday evening through a video conference. “When Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the Prime Minister of India, India’s foreign exchange reserves were only a billion dollars. But now India’s foreign exchange reserves have risen to $600 billion. Where is India today? However, Pakistan is begging the world for money,” he said.

Sharif also announced that he will return to the country on October 21 to lead the party’s campaign in the upcoming elections, ending his four-year exile in London. Sharif also said that his party will win the upcoming general elections.

Nawaz, who went to London for treatment with the permission of the court in 2019, while serving a 7-year prison sentence in the Al-Azizia Mills corruption case, has not returned to the country since. He is banned for life from holding public office following the Supreme Court’s 2017 ruling in the Panama Papers case. The Pakistan Muslim League (N) party has stated that it will secure bail for him before he arrives in Pakistan next month.
