Panteerankavu case: Supreme Court grants bail to Thaha Fazal

The Supreme Court has granted bail to Taha Fazal, who is lodged in jail in the Panteerankavu UAPA case. Taha Fazal’s appeal against the High Court order quashing the trial court order granting bail. A bench of Justices Ajay Rastogi and AS Oka passed the order.

The Supreme Court had earlier concluded the Panteerankavu Maoist case. The NIA’s request to cancel Alan Shuhaib’s bail and Taha Fazal’s bail application had already been completed.

The Supreme Court also rejected an appeal by the NIA against granting bail to Alan Shuhaib in the case. Taha’s bail was canceled by the high court on an appeal filed by the NIA against granting bail to the two in the case. The verdict agreed with the NIA’s claim that the pamphlets seized from Taha Fazl’s were evidence of the UAPA’s existence.
