Park Bum-gye, “The Supreme Prosecutor’s Office needs to investigate the suspicion of accusing Yoon Seok-yeol”

Minister of Justice Park Beom-gye speaks at a question-and-answer session on the “suspicion of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol’s accusation” held at the Legislative and Judiciary Committee of the National Assembly on the 6th. yunhap news

On the 6th, Minister of Justice Park Beom-gye said, “It should be quickly investigated” about the allegation that a prosecutor who was closest to the former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol instigated a complaint against a pan-passport politician and a journalist with the Future United Party (current People’s Power). The Ministry of Justice is monitoring the fact-finding by the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office and is proceeding with a separate fact-checking process.

Minister Park went to work at the Ministry of Justice in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province on the same day, and told reporters, “(The suspicion of accusation) is a matter of interest to both the public and the politicians. In accordance with the instructions of Prosecutor General Oh-su Kim to investigate the facts, the Supreme Prosecutor’s Inspection Department is analyzing the computer used by former Supreme Prosecutor’s Office Investigation and Information Policy Officer Son Jun-seong (currently the Human Rights Protection Officer of the Daegu High Prosecutors’ Office), who is the suspect.

When asked whether the Ministry of Justice would respond, Minister Park said, “Primarily, the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office is under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, and it seems that the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office is proceeding well according to the procedures.” ” he replied.

Minister Park nodded when a reporter asked if the Office of the Inspector General of the Ministry of Justice had completed the legal review. Then, to the question of ‘what specific content is in progress’, he avoided answering, saying, “It is still premature.” As to whether or not to directly investigate the hand test, he said, “I haven’t jumped directly into it yet.”

Minister Park maintained that he would first entrust the fact-finding investigation to the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office. Minister Park said, “At the moment, the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office does not think there is a problem and it feels like the procedure is proceeding well. I don’t think there’s a big problem if we do it strictly without reporting,” he said.

There is a possibility that the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office will switch to a formal inspection depending on the progress of the fact-finding investigation. The transition to inspection can also be handled without a report to the Prosecutor General, Han Dong-soo, head of the Inspection Department of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office. However, inside and outside the prosecution, even if the inspection proceeds, it is pointed out that there is a limit to the fact that the hand phone must be submitted arbitrarily. Civic Action, a civic group, called for the high-ranking public officials to investigate the allegations, and filed a complaint against former President Yoon and Prosecutor Sohn on allegations of obstruction of the exercise of the right to abuse of power.
