Park Ji-eun of Changwon National University’s table tennis team wears the Taegeuk symbol and heads to international competitions

Park Ji-eun, a first-year student at Changwon National University, won the women’s college division individual singles title at the ‘2nd Korea University Table Tennis Championships’ held at the Gimcheon Indoor Gymnasium from the 10th.

This is a splendid achievement of winning for two consecutive years following the last competition, and as a result, Park Ji-eun ranked first in the women’s college division rankings, including this win, and received the honor of being selected as a national representative for the ‘2023 Poland International Competition’.

This competition is a ‘university championship’ in which only individual skills are competed in individual and individual doubles matches, without team competitions, to determine the strongest player.

The team was divided into a total of 16 groups and went through a league match, with the first and second place in each group advancing to the round of 32 and a tournament.

Park Ji-eun of Changwon University advanced to the tournament by placing second in her group in the preliminary round, and advanced to the finals after a close match with Lee Ga-yeon of Kongju University in the round of 32, Nam Yun-jeong of Andong University in the round of 16, Jeong Ji-eun of Yongin University in the quarterfinals, and Baek Su-jin of Kongju University in the semifinals.

In the finals, she defeated Kim Yeon-hee of Yongin University and came out on top.

Also, in the individual doubles, the pair of Park Heon-min (4th year, Department of Physical Education) and Park Ji-eun took second place.

In the semifinals, they faced their rivals, Yongin University’s Ji-eun Jeong and Park I-re, and won the full game, but in the finals, they lost 3-2 to Incheon University’s Lee Soo-yeon and Ong Chae-yeon, and took second place.

In the men’s individual doubles, the team of Kim Jin-taek (2nd year, Department of Physical Education) and Shin Seok-hyeon (1st year, Department of Physical Education) reached the finals, but lost 3 to 1 to the team of Kunsan National University’s Nam Geon-woo and Kwon Kang-min and finished as runners-up.

The University Table Tennis Federation decided to send the two players with the highest ranking scores in a total of five competitions in the year as national team players to the ‘2023 Poland International Tournament’ to be held from November 1 to 8, following the University Table Tennis Championships. , Park Ji-eun is ranked first in the women’s college division and is selected along with Hannam University’s Lee Eun-ju (second) and will participate in the competition wearing the Taegeuk symbol.
