Park Jung-hwan wins from a comeback in the Samsung Fire Cultivation final… Reached the top of the 5th major championship in his career

Jeonghwan Park, 9th Dan, who won the 2021 Samsung Fire & Marine Baduk Masters

Park Jeong-hwan, 9th dan, ranked 2nd in the domestic Go ranking, won the top spot by winning a comeback victory over Shinjinseo 9dan, the 1st in the domestic ranking.

Park Jeong-hwan 9 dan won a hundred bucks in 166 moves against Shin Jin-seo 9 dan in the final 3rd round of the 2021 Samsung Fire Farm Baduk Masters Finals held online on the 3rd.

Park Jeong-hwan, 9th dan, who lost in the 1st country of the final on the 1st, took the trophy by winning consecutive victories in the 2nd and 3rd countries. This is the first Samsung F&M win in his career.

As a result, Park Jeong-hwan, who won the first world major championship at the Fujitsubae in 2011, rose to the top for the fifth time in his career. Previously, 9-dan Park won the LG Cup in 2015, the Dream Cup in 2018, and the Chunran Cup in 2019. It is the 32nd win at home and abroad.

With this comeback victory, Park Jung-hwan 9 dan also escaped the last five consecutive finals against Shin Jin-seo 9 dan.

After losing his first defeat in the LG Cup final to Shin Jin-seo 9-dan in February last year, Park 9-dan suffered a loss in the finals five times in a row, but he paid off his debts.

Park 9-dan succeeded in subduing the baseline by gaining the upper hand in the close battle that took place in the upper left corner at the beginning of the match. Shin Jin-seo 9 dan attacked to bring the flow, but Park Jeong-hwan 9 dan kept the victory by calmly blocking it.

Park Jung-hwan climbed to the top for the first time in seven years after Kim Ji-seok’s ninth dan in 2014, and Korea recorded the 13th championship at Samsung Fire. China is 11th and Japan is 2nd.

The winning prize of the 2021 Samsung Fire & Marine World Baduk Masters, sponsored by Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance and hosted by JoongAng Ilbo, is 300 million won and the runner-up prize is 100 million won.
